With something as simple as the stroke of a brush Reynald Ricard of Red Market and Glyph Salons turns an ordinary head of hair into a mass of burnished gold tresses. The technique he uses, Balayage, is not a new one however it is truly rarely seen outside the best salons of Paris. Balayage is the art of painting hair as an artist paints a canvas and like many visual artists, Reynald not only uses brushes on your hair, he has been known to use whatever is at hand, literally employing everything from combs, brushes, paintbrushes and even his bare hands to make your hair look it’s best.
Compared to regular highlights, balayage is a faster, healthier and more organic process for your hair. By omitting the use of foils, balayage stops the over processing and damage that often occurs with foil highlights. You know, that nasty “grow out line” that occurs every 4 weeks or so after you visit the salon, the one that lets everyone know that’s not your “natural” color? Well, with balayage you don’t get that. As each highlight is painted, there are no stripes, therefore no line crowning you for all the world to see.
